Please note that we can only release information about individuals in line with the Data Protection Act 1998.  This means that we cannot release information about individuals who are still living without their prior consent.

As we don’t necessarily know whether an individual is deceased we have a blanket policy that we don’t release data for people who could be under 100 years old.  As of 2016 this means that we cannot release information about:

  • Leaders after 1936.
  • Scouts after 1927
  • Cubs after 1924

Where we have group records for instance registration documents we can release these once we have removed all personal data.

Research appointments

We can host a limited number of researchers throughout the year.  Usually on a Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday.  Please contact us at heritage@scouts.org.uk to discuss your requirements.
